The NTA has established a Transport User Advisory Group and an existing commitment in the Programme for Government to establish a National Public Transport Forum was incorporated into the National Sustainable Mobility Policy. This is now a commitment to convene a National Sustainable Mobility Forum to engage with all stakeholders on progress in relation to the SMP.
My department convened the first National Sustainable Mobility Forum from the 19th to the 20th of April 2023, to coincide with the first anniversary of the launch of the SMP. Trade union officials were invited and ASB was included as one of the issues discussed during stakeholder workshops. The publishing of the NTA Passenger Security Report, as well as increased structured reporting from operators to the NTA and from the NTA to the Department, are steps taken across the last year to action these proposals.
The next Sustainable Mobility Forum will take place on May 23rd in Portlaoise. As part of the Forum, my department has organised a closed Transport Safety and Security Workshop with key industry stakeholders, to discuss the issue of safety. The workshop is the first step toward developing a public transport safety charter, as requested in the SIPTU Respect for Transport Worker campaign.
