To ask the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that dependent's allowance was stopped from Mrs. Mary Finan, Court Devenish, Athlone, whilst her son, John Finan, was in a hospital in Dublin suffering from bullet wounds received while serving with the National Army; and whether the Minister is aware that he was his mother's chief support; and if, in view of this, the allowance will be resumed?

On information received it became necessary to re-investigate Mrs. Finan's claim. The necessary inquiries have now been completed, and the maximum allowance allowed. Arrears of the allowance are being paid at once.
