I ask leave of the Dáil to have printed and circulated a Bill to provide for the time in Saorstát Eireann being in advance of West-European time during a certain period of the year.
SUMMER TIME BILL, 1923—FIRST STAGE.
I wish, on behalf of the interests which I and my colleagues represent here, to offer our opposition to this Bill and to register that opposition even now, at this first stage, by calling for a division.
May I ask the Deputy to withdraw that; it is not usual, on the First Reading, when a Bill is introduced to challenge a division. The Deputy can do it on the next stage if he wishes.
Under these circumstances we will wait for the next stage.
Question: "That the Bill be read the first time," put and agreed to.
Ordered for second reading Tuesday, 27th March.
