Vol. 6 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DEPENDENT'S ALLOWANCE (NAAS).

Mr. EGAN (for Seoirse de Bhulbh)

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Private Desmond, 40th Brigade, Curragh Reserve, and now of Jigginstown, Naas, joined the Army in July, 1922, and was demobilised on September 9th, 1923, and whether during the first month of her husband's service, Mrs. Desmond only received a fortnight's separation allowance, and during the last month she received nothing at all, and whether the Minister will cause enquires to be made into this claim?

Mr. Desmond attested on the 28th July, 1922, and proceeded on demobilisation leave on the 9th August, 1923. His wife was paid dependent's allowance in respect of this period. A cheque has now been issued to cover the period from the 9th August to the 6th September, the date of his actual discharge from the Army.
