Vol. 7 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - GRANT FOR TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if portion of the Government Grant due to the South Riding of Tipperary Technical Instruction Committee has been withheld on the grounds that the full proportion due from the local District Councils had not been contributed, and if there is legal authority for this course of action on the part of the Department of Agriculture.

The Department's contributions to schemes of technical instruction are conditional on the full amount of the local contributions from rates which formed part of the financial basis of such schemes being forthcoming in accordance with the principle laid down in Section 16 (6) of the Act of 1899. The position has been fully explained by the Department through the Tipperary (S.R.) Technical Instruction Committee, from whom the Department are awaiting a reply to a communication sent on the 12th instant.
