Vol. 7 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PAYMENT OF AN ALLOWANCE.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that an allowance of 28s. per week, which had been payable to Mrs. Burke, of 12 Kennedy's Villas, James' Street, Dublin, in respect of the death of her son, the late Sergeant T. Burke, Transport Office, Westland Row, has been discontinued since 13th October, 1923; that Sergeant Burke was one of a party of National soldiers who were driving in a military motor car at Seville Place, which collided with a horse-drawn vehicle the property of Messrs. Cafferey, Egg Merchant, Little Britain Street, on 2nd February. 1923; that Sergeant Burke died as a result of his injuries received; that he was the chief support of his widowed mother and family; that no grant or compensation has been made to her, and if, having regard to the loss she sustained, whether it is intended to grant her compensation.

Enquiries are being made, and I will communicate with the Deputy during the course of next week.
