Vol. 7 No. 7

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - PAYMENT OF GALWAY DECREE.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that Thomas Baldwin, Ballyaneen, Gort, obtained a decree for £100, with £15 15s. costs, at the Galway Quarter Sessions in July, 1920, on account of personal injuries received in October, 1919; whether particulars regarding this award were duly lodged with the Ministry of Finance; whether he will explain why no payment on account of this award has yet been made to Mr. Baldwin, and if he will see that settlement is expedited.

This case has been receiving attention, and the facts are as stated. As the Deputy is no doubt aware, investigation of the full circumstances of all cases of this kind have to be made in order to establish whether liability for payment rests with the Saorstát or British Government. The investigations have not yet been completed in this particular case; but I hope to be in a position to have payment made at an early date.
