Vol. 7 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DETENTION OF TIPPERARY MEN.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state why John Ryan, Richard Ryan, James Ryan and Michael Ryan (Dan), of Rossmore, Co. Tipperary, have been detained in prison for six months without trial, and if steps will be taken either to have the prisoners tried or released.

The four prisoners named are detained under the provisions of the Public Safety (Powers of Arrest and Detention) Temporary Act, 1924, on strong suspicion of having unlawfully interfered with Mr. James Carew in the lawful occupation of his farm at Moneen, Rossmore, Thurles, Co. Tipperary. The question of releasing these prisoners on their entering into bail bonds is being at present considered.
