asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that Mr. D. McGonigle, merchant, Dowra, Co. Cavan, has a claim for compensation for losses sustained in consequence of his premises being commandeered by the National Army, the losses in question amounting to £1,677 7s. 6d., and for which £385 was granted by the Board of Works as compensation, and if he will have this claim reinvestigated with a view to granting compensation to an equitable extent.

The Deputy is obviously misinformed. The claim in question has been thoroughly investigated, and the sum of £385 has been paid by the Commissioners of Public Works and accepted by the applicant in full settlement of the claim.
