Vol. 7 No. 25

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - FINEA ARRESTS (WESTMEATH).

asked the Minister for Justice if he will release the two sons of Mr. Patrick Fitzgerald who were recently arrested at Finea, Co. Westmeath, by the Gárda Síochána in view of the fact that no charge has been preferred against them.

One, Patrick Fitzgerald, of Finea, County Westmeath, was arrested by the Gárda Síochána on the 10th ultimo, and detained under the Public Safety (Powers of Arrest and Detention) Temporary Act, 1924, on strong suspicion of having been angaged in an attempt to overthrow by violence the established form of Government of the Saorstát. It is not proposed to release him for the present.

I have no information as to whether this man is a son of Mr. Patrick Fitzgerald, and no other person of that name has been arrested recently.
