Vol. 7 No. 30

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CO. LONGFORD ROADS.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware of the condition of the main roads in County Longford, and if he will send his Inspector to report on these roads; if he will state what steps it is intended to take in order that proper facilities will be provided for persons using those roads to enable them to get some return for the payment of rates.

The condition of these roads has been engaging the attention of the Chief Roads Engineer of my Department. He is visiting Longford again to-day. I am most dissatisfied with the poor return which has followed the considerable expenditure on the roads of this county. I am determined that the unsatisfactory conditions shall cease, and towards that end I will not hesitate to take within my statutory powers any course which appears to be necessary.
