Vol. 7 No. 31

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - INJURED SOLDIER'S APPLICATION.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Private Thomas Pierce, Fair Green, Naas, Co. Kildare, Army No. 52030, who attested on the 24th June, 1924, was discharged as medically unfit on the 11th April, 1924, as a result of his left arm being so seriously injured that he has almost completely lost the use of it; whether he was on cycle patrol duty with a party of about twenty military in the neighbourhood of Brittas, Co. Wicklow, at the time he was injured, and, as this man has a wife and child to provide for, whether he will consider the granting of a pension or gratuity.

I am not aware of the circumstances under which it is alleged that Mr. Pierce has lost power of his left arm. No application for pension or gratuity has been received from him. The appropriate form for the purpose has, however, now been sent to him. On its return properly completed the case will receive due consideration.
