Vol. 8 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - HOUSING FACILITIES FOR INHABITANTS OF RURAL DISTRICTS.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if it is intended to introduce legislation to provide facilities for inhabitants of rural districts, similar to those provided for persons residing in urban districts under the Housing (Building Facilities) Act, 1924.

This matter was discussed during the progress through the Oireachtas of the Housing (Building Facilities) Act, 1924, and it is not at present intended to introduce legislation enabling grants to be paid to persons reconstructing houses in rural districts outside the limits laid down in the Act.

Rural districts have the same advantage as urban districts in respect of the provision of new houses.
