Vol. 8 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DUBLIN JURORS' SERVICES.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware of the continued inconvenience occasioned and great loss involved to the jurors of the City of Dublin by compelling them to try criminal cases from all counties of the Saorstát at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin; whether he is aware of similar loss and inconvenience arising from frequent and continued attendance of Dublin jurors in the Courts at Dublin Castle, and whether it is intended to introduce legislation, reducing the appalling grievances under which Dublin City jurors are at present labouring.

I am aware that Dublin jurors have had a very heavy burden placed upon them, and I hope to introduce a Bill after the Recess providing for a fairer incidence of the duty of jury service.

Mr. BYRNE

I will ask the Minister whether he will consider the advisability of including Rathmines, Pembroke, and Blackrock in the list for dealing with Central Criminal Court cases, and not throw all the onus on the city?

I hope to consider all relative matters.
