Vol. 8 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BUILDING OF FISHERIES PATROL BOAT.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if in view of the great necessity that exists for the supervision of the coastal fisheries in regard to poaching, he is now in a position to give the order for the building at Arklow of the fast motor boat, the plans and specifications of which were accepted some five months ago.

A tender was invited for the building of a patrol boat to prevent illegal salmon fishing on the lower Shannon. The cost of the boat was, however, too high to permit of it being purchased out of the funds available for the purpose. The type of boat tendered for would not be suitable for coastal patrol.
