Vol. 9 No. 16

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - THE HOWARD ESTATE, BALLINASLOE.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture if he will state what steps (if any) have been taken by the Land Commission to acquire the lands of the Howard estate, Aughrim Hill, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway, for division among the local people in the district.

Mr. HOGAN:

The Estate referred to appears to be 83 acres of the townland of Attidermot and 1 acre, 2 roods, 30 perches of Kinnaweelish which were purchased from the owner, Richard Howard, by the Committee by means of a loan from the Munster and Leinster Bank. The Land Commission have made an offer for the purchase of the estate which the Committee have not accepted.
