Vol. 9 No. 19

CLOSE OF SESSION.

Before we proceed with the Orders of the Day, can we have, from the Ministry, some information as to their intentions regarding the conclusion of this Session? Is it to be concluded before the Christmas adjournment, or what are the intentions of the Ministry regarding the propogation of this Session? I think we are bound, constitutionally, to have at least one Session, which, I suppose, means a completed Session within a calendar year. This Session began in September. 1923, and is not yet completed, and I do not see any signs of formal completion. I think Deputies would also like to know the intentions of the Ministry regarding the Christmas adjournment or suspension at this stage.

I find myself in a difficult position. As Deputies are aware, the President has departed from the country, and the Vice-President is detained at home to-day owing to illness in the family. If Deputy Johnson will permit me to hold over his question until to-morrow I will endeavour to have it answered.

Would the Minister also indicate, when answering Deputy Johnson's question, when it is intended to introduce the Army Pensions (Amendment) Bill?
