Vol. 9 No. 21

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - SOLDIER'S DEATH AT GALBALLY.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he can state if any investigation was held by the Military Authorities into the death of Corporal Ed. Horne, reported as having been accidentally shot dead at Galbally, Co. Tipperary, in November, 1922; whether the Military Authorities are satisfied as a result of such investigation that the soldier's death was accidental; and whether there was a Coroner's inquiry into the cause of the death of the deceased.

Owing to the disturbed conditions obtaining in Limerick in October, 1922, the circumstances of Edward Horne's death were not enquired into by a formal Court of Enquiry, nor does a Coroner's Enquiry appear to have been held. From investigations which have been made I am satisfied that the occurrence was purely accidental.
