Vol. 9 No. 22

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - DEDUCTIONS FROM SOLDIER'S PAY.

asked the Minister for Defence whether a claim has been received from Mr. P.J. Devine, late No. 52762, 13th Infantry Battalion, for £6 2s. 4d. deducted from his pay, and whether he can state what action has been taken in the matter.

Mr. Devine's claim has been received. The sum of £6 2s. 4d. was deducted from the pay and the gratuity payable on his discharge as a set off to an over-payment in respect of marriage allowance which had been made to the guardian of Mr. Devine's children and which included 1/- a week, which should have been, but was not, allotted for the purpose from Mr. Devine's pay.
