Vol. 9 No. 27

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SUGGESTED ADDITIONAL BANK HOLIDAY.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Vice-President if it is proposed to proclaim Saturday, December 27th, as a Bank Holiday.

It is not intended to proclaim Saturday, December 27th, as a Bank Holiday, but the Government propose to proclaim a Bank Holiday on 1st January, 1925.

Have any representation from the bankers or bankers' officials with regard to this proposal been made, in view of the fact that most businesses will be closed down on that day?

I was asked by the Standing Committee of the Irish Banks to take steps to have a Bank Holiday proclaimed on the 1st January, but not on the other date.
