asked the Minister for Defence if he has received repeated applications from Patrick Murphy, bootmaker, Portlaoighise, Leix, ex-Volunteer No. 39883, Headquarters Co., 7th Battalion, Naas, for proficiency pay at 1/6 per day during his period of service from February 17th, 1924, to August 16th, 1924; whether this extra allowance was sanctioned by the Adjutant-General previous to attestation, and, if he will now state when the amount due will be paid, or the reason for the delay in doing so.
CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLAIM FOR PROFICIENCY PAY.
Mr. Murphy's claim has been received. Additional pay at the rate of 9d. a day was properly authorised in his case in May, 1924, and not previously. It has now been ascertained that apparently owing to a local misunderstanding it was not issued. The amount due is being paid to Mr. Murphy to-day.
