Vol. 10 No. 19

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DELAY IN REPAIRING KERRY BRIDGE.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state what is the cause of the delay on the part of the Kerry County Council in repairing the creamery bridge at Mount Collins; whether he is aware that this creamery will have to close down unless some temporary bridge is erected, as eighty-five per cent. of the suppliers have to use this bridge daily to cross to the creamery, and whether he would take the necessary steps in the matter.

The delay in repairing this bridge, which connects the counties of Kerry and Limerick, appears to be due to the divided responsibility existing in such cases between the local authorities in both counties. On the 6th November last the County Surveyor for North Kerry was directed to have this bridge advertised for contract. Representations have already been made to me to the effect stated by the Deputy in the second part of his question, and I have been in communication on the matter with the Commissioner acting in place of the Kerry County Council. I will now make further representations to him.
