Vol. 11 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - BROADCASTING IN SAORSTÁT.

TOMAS MAC EOIN

asked the Minister for Finance whether he has yet completed consideration of the scheme for a Radio Broadcasting Station submitted by the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, and if he will state when he expects to be in a position to announce his decision.

The proposals submitted by the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs are at present under consideration, but I am not yet in a position to say definitely when a decision is likely to be reached.

Although the proposals were received a considerable time ago, it has only recently become possible to examine them on their merits, apart from legal considerations.

Will the Minister promise to give the earliest possible consideration, and come to a decision within a reasonable time, meaning by a reasonable time, say, three months?

Yes, sir. It is only about five or six weeks since the legal difficulty that was suggested was found to have no reality.
