Vol. 12 No. 17

COMMITTEE ON FINANCE. - EXCESS VOTE (MINISTRY OF FISHERIES).

I beg to move that permission be granted to introduce this Excess Vote. It is unlikely that any discussion or controversy will arise in connection with it. The Minister for Finance, in placing it before the Dáil, is doing so in accordance with the recommendation of the Committee of Public Accounts, as expressed in their first report, which has been placed before the Dáil. The circumstances under which the excess occurred have been fully explained in that report, being fully set out at the end of the statement. The sum of £10 specified in this Vote is a token figure. The actual excess on sub-head D (3) of the Fisheries Vote was £7,448 19s. 6d. This is more than off-set by savings from other subheads and a surplus on the estimated Appropriations-in-Aid. The authority of the Dáil is necessary in order that the excess may be made out of the surplus.

Leave granted.

I move:—

Go ndeontar suim ná raghaidh thar £10 chun slánuithe iomarcaidhe ar an Deontas don Aireacht Iascaigh i gcóir na bliana dar chríoch an 31adh lá de Mhárta, 1924.

That a sum not exceeding £10 be granted to make good an excess on the Grant for the Ministry of Fisheries for the year ended on the 31st day of March, 1924.

Ordered—To be reported to-morrow.

Question put and agreed to.
