The request referred to by the Deputy was received by the Department of Defence, but as the gun in question could not be traced, the application has been treated as a claim for compensation and has been referred to the Committee appointed under the Indemnity Act. It has not yet been possible, owing to the large number of such claims already filed, to have the claim investigated and considered by the Committee.
