Vol. 13 No. 12

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - MILITARY SERVICE PENSION CLAIMS.

SEAMUS O CRUADHLAOICH

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state why the claims of E. McElligott, Ardfert, Co. Kerry, Ref. S.P. 1415; Thomas Sheahan, Ardfert, Co. Kerry, Ref. S.p. 2107; John Wallace, Ardfert, Co. Kerry; Thomas O'Riordan, East Commons, Ardfert, Co. Kerry, and John O'Driscoll, Tubrid, Ardfert, Co. Kerry, S.p. 5514, for Military Service Pensions, have been disallowed by the Military Service Pensions Board, and if he is aware that these men have pre-Truce and Army service, and if the cases will be reconsidered.

The applications of Messrs. E. McElligott, Thomas Sheahan, John Wallace, Thomas O'Riordan and John O'Driscoll under the Military Service Pensions Act, 1924, have been referred to the Board of Assessors established under the Act for the purpose of determining their services for pension purposes. The Board have not yet reported to me. I understand that the Board has requested the applicants to furnish fresh evidence, if any, in support of their applications. I may add that the findings of the Board when made will be final and conclusive and binding on the applicants.
