Vol. 21 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSION CLAIM (ROSCOMMON).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health on what grounds an old age pension was disallowed to Michael Flattery, Rathmore, Fourmile House, Roscommon, District Longford, Station Strokestown (No. in Register 1293), and if he is prepared to reconsider this case and grant the pension from the date allowed by the Pension Sub-Committee, provided satisfactory proof is forthcoming that applicant is entitled to the sum claimed, viz., nine shillings per week.

This case came before the Minister on appeal for the third time in April last, but he was not satisfied that the yearly value of the claimant's means, as calculated for old age pension purposes, was within the statutory limit for the receipt of a pension, and the appeal was determined on the 13th May, 1927, no pension being allowed. It is provided by Section 7 (2) of the Old Age Pensions Act, 1908, that the decision of the Minister, as Central Pension Authority, on cases brought before him on appeal, is final and conclusive.
