Vol. 21 No. 3

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ATHENRY AGRICULTURAL SCHOOL.

Mr. BRODERICK

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture why the Agricultural School at Athenry, County Galway, is not open for the reception of pupils, and when arrangements will be made for the re-opening of this School, which can render invaluable service in the interests of agriculture in the West and other portions of the Saorstát.

Mr. HOGAN

The Agricultural School in question had, unfortunately, to be closed some time ago owing to the water supply having become contaminated. I regret that it is not yet possible to say when the School can be reopened, but every feasible step is being taken to find a remedy for the serious defect which has arisen.

Mr. BRODERICK

Is the Minister aware that an improved water supply has been found a mile distant from the school which is capable of supplying the needs of the institution?

Mr. HOGAN

I will ask the Board of Works to make inquiries in that regard.
