Vol. 21 No. 6

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - FRAUDULENT SALE OF PRODUCE.

asked the Minister for Lands and Agriculture how many prosecutions for the fraudulent sale of foreign agricultural produce as Irish took place in Great Britain in 1913 and 1926, respectively; what was the total amount of the fines imposed in these prosecutions in each of the two years, and how many of the prosecutions in 1926 were initiated by his Department.

Mr. HOGAN

In the year 1913 it was not found necessary by the Irish Department of Agriculture to initiate in Great Britain prosecutions of the nature referred to; nor in 1926 were any prosecutions of this nature undertaken by the Trade Branch of the High Commissioner's Office. The matter is at present the subject of correspondence between my Department and the Trade Commissioner, more especially in its relation to the provisions of the new British Merchandise Marks Act.
