Vol. 21 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CRIMINAL INJURIES LEGISLATION.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will introduce proposals for legislation to amend the Criminal Injuries Acts whereby the Court, in a claim for compensation for alleged maliciously destroyed property, shall, when giving judgment for the plaintiff, take into consideration the purchase price of the property, including any land attached, the use to which it has been put, and any relevant factors necessary to arrive at the market value of the building, and shall also make the award contingent on the erection of a suitable building in the locality.

An early opportunity will be taken to consider the suggestions embodied in the question, and I will consult the Minister for Justice in the matter.
