Vol. 21 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DEATHS OF REPUBLICAN PRISONERS IN KERRY.

asked the Minister for Defence whether any inquiry has been held into the blowing up of Republican prisoners by mines at Ballyseedy, Countess Bridge, and Bahaghs, Co. Kerry, in March, 1923; and, if so, what was the nature of the inquiry and what was its result.

An inquiry was held into the circumstances of the deaths of the prisoners referred to. As to the nature of the inquiry and its result, I would refer the Deputy to the reply given in the Dáil on 17th April, 1923, by the then Minister for Defence to a question regarding the deaths of prisoners at Ballyseedy and Countess Bridge. The findings in the Bahaghs case were in similar terms.
