asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state, with reference to the estate of the Kilmaine Farming Co-operative Society, County Mayo, when it is his intention to have refunded to the tenants of that estate the amount of the purchase money, viz., £6,200, advanced by them when that estate was purchased; and when it is intended to proceed with the distribution of that estate.
ORAL ANSWERS. - KILMAINE FARMING CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY.
In the estate of the Kilmaine Co-operative Farming Society, Limited, County Mayo, the deposit of £6,250 has been lodged in the Land Commission and invested in National Loan in accordance with the terms of Section 53 of the Land Act, 1923.
Under the provisions of Section 45 (1) of the Land Act, 1927, the Land Commission has power to refund the deposit, or part thereof, to the original contributors or to persons claiming through them, and forms of application for such refund have been forwarded to the contributors.
No refund of deposit has been made, and at the present stage of the proceedings it is not possible to state when any refund will be made by the Land Commission.
It is anticipated that an inspector will visit the lands to prepare a scheme of division at an early date.
