asked the Minister for Finance why Mr. John Hayes, of Listarkin, Union Hall, County Cork, has not received the ten pounds which he subscribed to the Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan of 1919-20, although applications were sent to his Department on July 14th and October 15th, 1927, and acknowledged on July 21st and October 18th, and asked the Minister if he will expedite the return of this money.

Mr. Hayes did not apply for repayment until July of the current year, notwithstanding the fact that notices were inserted in the Press in the beginning of 1925 inviting subscribers to the Dáil Eireann (Internal) Loan to apply forthwith for repayment. It was impossible to deal promptly with the large number of applications which were received in my Department when the repayment of subscriptions was begun in June last. Nevertheless, if Mr. Hayes had sent us the receipt which was admittedly in his possession, or even quoted the number of it, he would already have been repaid. It is anticipated that authority for the repayment of his subscription will be sent to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs at a very early date.
