Vol. 21 No. 11

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - GUNNAI DO GHABHAIL.

den Aire Dlí agus Cirt cad na thaobh ar thóg na Gárdaí Síochána (Ard Raithín) na gunnaí ó Mhícheál O Fathaigh, Cathair a'Mhóinín, Cinn Mhara, agus ó Sheán de Burca, Cathair Mhór, Cinn Mhara—beirt fheilméir go bhfuil na préacháin agus na coiníní ag déanamh dioghbhála dá ngabháltais; cé an fáth ar dhiúltuigh Ceannphort na nGárdaí ceadúnaisí gunna a thabhairt don bheirt sin i mbliana fé mar a tugadh anuiridh; agus cathain a gheobhaidh siad na gunnaí agus ceadúnaisí arís.

Reliable information reached the Gárda Síochánna that Michael Fahy, Cathair a Mhoinin, Kinvara, and John Burke, Cahermore, Kinvara, who had been issued certificates authorising them to have possession of single-barrel shot guns were persons who could not be permitted to have firearms without danger to the public safety and peace. Accordingly, the Superintendent, exercising the powers conferred on him by the Firearms Act, 1925, revoked the certificates. As required by Section 6 of that Act, the firearms are now retained by the Gárda Síochána until Fahy and Burke have found suitable purchasers. When such purchasers are found the Gárda will hand the guns over to them.

I may add that, apart from any other consideration, neither of these men is strictly entitled, under the Act, to the certificate, because neither of them is a rated occupier of land.
