No question of compensation with regard to these teachers arises.
They were notified on the 30th April, 1925, that salary was withdrawn from them. Payment was made to them for recognised personal service up to that date and they were declared ineligible for further service in National Schools. Notwithstanding that they were declared ineligible for service some of those teachers continued to teach in the schools in which they were previously employed for the whole or part of the time which has since elapsed.
It is not proposed to make payment to these teachers for the period during which they were not recognised, viz., the period between the date when they were declared ineligible and the date on which it was announced that they would be again recognised as eligible to serve in National Schools.
Would it be possible for the Minister to make their recognition retrospective?
