Vol. 21 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DUNDALK TRUNK ROAD.

asked the Minister for Local Goverment and Public Health if he is aware that a great deal of dissatisfaction exists in Dundalk over the delay in the starting of the work of constructing the new trunk road running through that town, for the making of which a sum of £16,000 has already been allocated; if he can explain why this work has not been already begun; and if he can give an assurance that this essential work, which would provide much-needed employment, will be started at an early date.

Agreement was reached on the 7th instant between the technical experts in the matter of this contract and tenders can now be invited. Some inevitable delay appears to have occured, but it is attributable to a desire on the part of all concerned to ensure that the considerable amount of money involved should be applied to the best advantage.

I am glad to be able to say that the matter was satisfactorily settled on the day the question was put down.
