I am not aware that the fishermen of Blackrock are greatly handicapped by the absence of a pier or slipway. An application was made on their behalf some time ago for an improvement in landing facilities, the cost of providing which would be out of all proportion to the value of the local fisheries. This was pointed out to them at the time, and I cannot hold out any hope of public funds being made available in the matter.
