Vol. 21 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DIVISION OF BALLINASLOE ESTATE.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state why the tenants who got new holdings on Park East Estate, Kilkerrin, Ballinasloe (purchased by the C.D.B. from Sir Ralph St. G. C. Gore in 1915) and who were promised a reduction in their annuities within ten years, have not yet been vested or got the said reduction; if he is aware that they were also given turbary with a promise of a road being made giving access to same, and will he also state why this promise has not been fulfilled.

Arrangements for the re-sale of the holdings of the tenants referred to in the question are nearing completion, and purchase agreements will be prepared and issued as soon as the final survey has been made.

The Land Commission is not aware that a promise was made to construct a road to give access to the turbary referred to in the question, but they will consider the matter.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that roads were promised not alone on that estate but on several others, and that most of the people in North Galway have to leave their turf out for the winter? I do not know if he is going to supply them with fuel to carry them over the winter.
