Vol. 22 No. 5

WRITTEN QUESTIONS. - REDUCED PENSION ALLOWANCE.

Dr. O'DOWD

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health on what grounds Catherine Monaghan, Ballinculeen, Carrick-on-Shannon, has been refused the full pension of nine shillings a week; and whether he will state by what method he computes the means of this lady so as to justify the reduction to seven shillings a week.

General MULCAHY

This case came up on appeal in September, 1924, on review under the Old Age Pensions Act, 1924, and was decided on the 18th November, 1924.

It appeared that the claimant was the widow of an intestate and her means, consisting of her interest in a holding of land and some capital, were estimated, as calculated for pension purposes, to be £23 8s. 0d. a year.
