Vol. 22 No. 6

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CASTLETOWN (WEXFORD) FLOODS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state what report was made by the inspector sent from his Department to inspect the flooded area at Castletown, County Wexford.

The report made by the Inspector dealt with the improvements at the mouth of the River Inch necessary to prevent the flooding of lands adjoining the river. The Land Commission are at present considering the matter and are obtaining a further report as to the feasibility of the lands which would be benefited by the improvements to bear repayment of the cost by annuities as provided by Section 44 (5) of the Land Act, 1923.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary let me know the result of the examination when he gets it?

There is an inspection being made at present. The Deputy is probably aware of the difficulties of carrying out the scheme. It will be necessary for the Land Commission to get in touch with the County Council as the carrying out of the improvement will involve the widening of the river bridge.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary let me know the result of the further investigations?
