Vol. 22 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ARMY HORSES AND IMPORTED SHOES.

asked the Minister for Defence if it is a fact that Army horses are being shod with imported machine-made shoes; and if, in view of the fact that in Dublin alone there are one hundred farriers unemployed, he will give instructions that only horseshoes of Irish manufacture be purchased by the Army authorities in future.

Army horses have been shod with imported machine-made shoes from stocks taken over from the British on evacuation. No machine-made shoes have been imported by my Department. As the stocks referred to become exhausted, shoes are made in the Saorstát from materials purchased here.
