Vol. 22 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - FISHERMEN'S BOATS.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state the number of boats, the property of the Department, lying at Baltimore, County Cork; the terms on which applications from fishermen for such boats will be entertained, and whether the boats will be put in order and given to fishermen on reasonable terms.

There are nine fishing boats, the property of my Department, at present lying at Baltimore. Applications will always be entertained from fishermen for the purchase of these vessels either for cash or through the medium of a fishery loan. In the latter case the usual conditions as to acceptable security would apply. Any of the boats in question would be disposed of on reasonable terms as and where it lies, or, alternatively, quotations would be furnished to a prospective purchaser for whatever repairs he might deem necessary: and the issue of a loan necessary to cover all could be considered.
