Vol. 22 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - OLD AGE PENSION CLAIM (BUNCRANA).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the reason for the non-payment of 9/- per week old age pension allowed by the Inishowen (2) Pension Sub-Committee on 19th April, 1927, to Daniel O'Donnell, Main Street, Buncrana (Sub-Committee Register No. 977—P.O. Register No. 3425).

An appeal was decided in this case on the 31st May, 1927. It was determined that the claimant was not entitled to an old age pension as it was not clear on the evidence submitted that his means, as calculated for old age pension purposes, were within the statutory limit (£39 5s.) for the receipt of a pension.

Is the Minister aware that the claimant in this case received no notification from the Pensions Officer that he was going to appeal against the decision of the Inishowen Pension Sub-Committee.

No, I am not aware of that.

Would the Minister have further inquiries made into the matter?

If the facts are such as would be contrary to this decision then the claimant could appeal against them or make a fresh claim.
