Vol. 22 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ACQUISITION OF REASKE, DUNSHAUGHLIN.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he will state whether the Land Commission is about to take over the lands of Reaske, near Dunshaughlin, County Meath, and if a settlement has been, or is about to be, reached with the Hibernian Bank, and if tenants who are not indebted to the Bank or are independent, having purchased and paid for the land, will also be taken over by the Land Commission; and, further, if, in case any independent holders are already in possession of sufficient land, the Land Commission will compulsorily acquire their farms on this estate for distribution amongst uneconomic holders.

The form of application signed by eleven of the owners of the lands of Reaske requesting the Land Commission to purchase and resell to them their plots under Section 42 of the 1927 Land Act was received by the Land Commission on 21st February, 1928.

The title deeds were only lodged with the Land Commission yesterday, and when the title has been investigated the lands will be inspected as expeditiously as possible.

It does not appear from the form of application that any of the present applicants are in the position of not being indebted to the bank.

When the report of the inspector has been received, it will be possible for the Land Commission to consider whether any uneconomic holdings should be enlarged from the holdings of applicants who may be deemed to have more than sufficient lands.
