Vol. 22 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DUBLIN UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT CLAIMS.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce (a) why the Dublin County Council refused to hand over stamped unemployment insurance cards to John Broe, Patrick Maguire, John Howard and Michael Tierney, of Donabate, County Dublin, who were employed as carters by the Dublin County Council, although deductions for unemployment insurance contributions were made from their wages for a number of years; (b) if the unemployment insurance cards of these men were not stamped, what became of the moneys deducted from their wages for the purpose of unemployment insurance contributions, and what action the Minister proposes to take in regard to the matter, and (c) why the claims of these men to unemployment insurance benefit were disallowed.

It is not possible from the information in the question to identify the accounts in the Unemployment Fund of the persons referred to, and if the Deputy will notify me when the claims to benefit were made, where they were made, and give the numbers of the unemployment insurance books held by these persons, further inquiries will be made.
