Vol. 23 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DERELICT FARMS (CO. KILDARE).

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he is aware that the farm of Lipstown, Narraghmore, Co. Kildare, lately in the occupation of Mr. M. Valentine, and subject to a land annuity, is derelict, and if he will state what measures are being taken in regard to this holding.

This holding is the subject of a suit in the courts and I would be obliged if the Deputy would repeat his question next week when I hope to have further information.

asked the Minister for Fisheries if he is aware that the Farm House of Halverstown, Kilcullen, County Kildare, lately in the occupation of Mr. Walker and subject to a land annuity, is stated to be in process of being pulled down and the material sold by the bank, and if he can state the attitude of the Land Commission towards these proceedings.

The holding referred to is subject to a Land Purchase Annuity which is paid to date and the Commissioners are informed is mortgaged to a bank which has a receiver managing it. An inspector who visited the lands recently reports that as the walls of an out-office became cracked and overhanging and appeared to be in danger of falling, the bank had the roof removed last month to save the slates which were sold but the price realised was not sufficient to pay the cost of removal. The walls have since fallen.

Mr. WOLFE

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that it is stated that certain valuable belongings inside this house have been removed, such as mahogany doors?

I am not aware of that. The premises have been recently inspected and I am quite satisfied that no property of any great value has been removed.
