Vol. 23 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SALE OF TOBACCO IN GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that certain persons in Government Departments make it a practice to retail tobacco and cigarettes to other employees in these Departments, notwithstanding the fact that they are not licensed to do so; and, if so, whether he will take steps to have the practice discontinued.

I understand that co-operative clubs consisting of persons employed in some Government Departments purchase tobacco and cigarettes on behalf of members. I am advised that no licence is necessary in such cases, and in the circumstances see no reason to interfere.
