asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that the City of Dublin Electric Construction Company are erecting poles for the electric lighting of Naas and other towns in County Kildare in connection with the Shannon scheme; that imported workers from other counties and countries number eighteen, and that only three local labourers have been given employment; whether there are any conditions of contract binding the contractor to give preference to local unemployed men, and, if not, whether any steps can be taken to have at least 75 per cent. of local labourers employed on such work.
