Vol. 24 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - THE TRANSPORT COMMITTEE.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he can state (a) when the last sitting of the Transport Committee took place; (b) whether it has as yet submitted a Report; (c) if so, when the Report will be published; and (d) whether he can inform the Dáil how much the Committee has cost up to June 1st, 1928.

The last sitting of the Committee took place on the 14th December, 1927. A further meeting will take place shortly. I expect it may be possible to effect publication of the report this month. The expenditure incurred to date is under £20.

Arising out of that answer, may I ask the Minister was it as a result of the recommendations of this Committee that he allowed the speed of motor buses to be increased, and how was it that he issued these instructions without first circulating the recommendations of the Committee amongst Deputies and giving an opportunity for the discussion of the report?

I do not know.

Was it as a result of the recommendations of the Committee?

I do not know. This question was addressed to the Minister for Local Government. I am answering on his behalf.
