Vol. 24 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - U.S.A. PASSPORTS.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether he can state (a) what is the procedure necessary to obtain a passport from the U.S.A. to the Free State in the case of persons who were deported from this country by the British authorities for political reasons prior to 1921; and (b) whether a special list of such persons is kept in the office of the Saorstát Minister in the U.S.A., and, if so, for what reason.

I assume that the first part of the Deputy's questions refers to the procedure necessary to obtain a visa and not a passport. No special procedure is necessary in the case of the persons mentioned. Visas for travel to the Irish Free State from the port of New York are granted by the Irish Free State Passport Control Officer, No. 1 Broadway, New York.

With regard to the second part of the question the answer is in the negative.
